Jet Wine Bar

Jet Wine Bar: A Global Vineyard

We will soon have a new wine on the menu, Quattro Mani Tocai from Slovenia.

This is the third Slovenian white we have had on the menu at Jet, and all have been great.  That Slovenian wine can be wonderful should really come as no surprise, given its geographic location bordering Italy's Friuli region - from which the tocai friuliano grape gets its name.  Yet Slovenian wine is wonderful on its own and there are distinctive differences in the grapes grown to the east of the Italy/Slovenia border.

White wines from both regions are fresh and a bit zingy with lovely "green" notes and healthy minerality.  This wine has all of those qualities and much, much more.

The nose is incredibly fragrant of fresh, white flowers and orange blossoms, making it a bee's delight.

If you can stop sniffing the wine long enough to take a sip, you will be rewarded with honeyed pear, some toasted orange, melon, and white pepper.  There is a pleasant creaminess in the mouth, that lingers long.

There is a bit more sweetness than one typically gets from friuli, but the headiness is tempered by acidity and minerality.

Give it a try, we think you will be pleased.
